Hi, My name is Zoë!

Zoë means “LIFE” in Greek. I am the creator of Life Ceramics.

I started Life Ceramics to sell my pottery and have since expanded to offer art programs that combine my passion for ceramic art with my desire to work with women in deep and meaningful ways. Thus, my new women's art program, ART and SOUL, where womens’ circle meets art class.

I come from a long line of artists, surrounded and inspired by art. I find my artistic inspiration from this heritage, plus my extensive travel and international work with women. I am motivated by the diverse designs, patterns, images, colors and natural beauties of the world.

The moment my hands touched clay in my first pottery class I knew I had found MY ART! From the feel of earthy material, to that grounded feeling while centering on the wheel, ceramics resonated for me. I love creating beautiful and functional forms, exploring designs, and opening to the magic and mystery of glazing. For over a decade, I have honed my technical skills and found my own expression resulting in unique painterly designs and solid, well made forms.

Life Ceramics is about beautiful ceramic art, and it is also much more. It is about sharing my gifts to support and inspire women. After college courses in Women’s Studies, I created an art therapy program for abused women in Bolivia, and worked in maternal and child health programs for an international public health organization. I became a certified Birth Doula in 2013, working with pregnant women and their families.

For the past 8 years I have participated in and helped organize The Gift, a 3-day retreat for women. In these sacred womens’ circles, I have learned how to create safe spaces for women, and to help women access their emotional selves and their deeper creativity and expression.

These experiences have given me the knowledge and experience to guide women through meaningful exploration of clay art that is rooted in self-discovery and self-expression.

I am devoted to sharing my gifts to support and inspire women. I believe in the healing effects of working with clay and of artistic expression. I believe in the power and magic of women connecting to—and out of--their deeper selves. In these ways, I help empower women from the inside out.
